This traditional holiday of love
makes for beautiful weddings. The abundance of heart shaped decorations,
foods, and papers adds a special touch to any wedding. You don’t have to hold
your Valentine’s Day wedding on February 14. Stock up on supplies after
the winter holiday and hold your romantic celebration any time you choose.
Start with a romantic
invitation. A pale pink card with hearts or flowers
embossed on the borders will set the stage for your fanciful wedding. Instead of
tissue paper, use a lace doily or wide lace ribbon. Seal with a
heart-shaped sticker. An informal wedding invitation could include a
child’s Valentine card with the information written on the back.
Choose a location you can cover in
clouds of white tulle or lightweight fabric. Your wedding should be a
romantic
fantasy - decked out with cupid and heart cutouts. Have your
florist create arrangements that evoke romanticism. Choose roses, carnations,
tulips, and lilies in red and pink tones. Add velvet ribbons and lots of
lace to fill out the bouquets.
Have the wedding party dressed in
formal
attire. Tuxedoes and gowns say
romance like nothing else. Be sure to have the bridesmaids wear gloves. You
could go with a color theme for an informal wedding. Let the bridesmaids wear
red dresses and the groomsmen wear red ties. Get all the items from the
same shop so you are sure the colors match.
Your reception
should continue the romance. A sit-down dinner may follow a
formal wedding, but a buffet can be just as lovely and less expensive. Buffets
also allow guests to mingle more than at a seated meal. An hors d'oeuvre
reception or cocktail hour can follow an informal wedding. Top your cake
with a crystal heart or roses. Red velvet cake is a dramatic choice.
Don’t forget dancing
at the reception. No romantic party would be complete without the happy couple
waltzing into their marriage together. Since all eyes will be on you,
consider a dance lesson or two. Your DJ or band needs a list of your favorite
romantic tunes to keep the magic going all night.
Thank
your guests with a heart shaped box filled with truffles or
chocolate hearts. Have them send you off with a sea of bubbles or a flurry of
confetti!
