Creative Ways To Seat Your Guests

Your wedding is special because it's yours, but there are little things that you can do to personalize your wedding to make it different from others that your guests have attended. Something that says something about you and your fiancé or just that added touch that people will tell others about while describing how perfect a wedding it was.

Name Your Tables Instead of Numbering Them!

Looking for an example of that little touch to personalize your wedding? If you are having a sit down dinner with assigned seating, here's a great idea. Instead of numbering your tables...name them.

Are you a sports fan? Have guests sit at tables bearing the logo and/or name of various sports teams. At one wedding, the bride and groom were huge hockey fans, so instead of assigning guests to sit at numbered tables, they sat at the Bruins table, the Rangers table, the Maple Leafs table, etc.

There are so many options depending on how creative you want to get. For example, if you are having your reception at a golf club, use course famous names like Augusta National or St. Andrews.

Exchanging vows on the beach? Name islands, or coastal cities, like St. Thomas, or Newport, RI. Getting married in a garden? Name you favorite flowers. The possibilities are endless. Here are some other ideas:

  • Places you and your fiancé have lived / visited

  • Song / Movie Titles

  • Any theme you are using throughout your wedding

  • Things that will say something about you and your fiancé

  • Use your reception site as a starting point. If it is historical, use what is special about it

Keep In Mind...

Two things to remember. You will need to make arrangements with your caterer / reception site. You may need to get special cards for the tables with the names printed on them, but as creative as you have been making up names, you may feel adventurous enough to make the cards! Just don't forget to let them know so there is no confusion.

Also, when you are purchasing place cards, take into consideration what you will be writing on them. If there is only a space for a number, you may need to look at an alternative card.

So get those creative juices flowing and give your guests something else to rave about when describing your perfect day.
