Make The Best Out Of A Rainy Wedding Day

“Rain, Rain Go Away, come again another day! Any day but my wedding day…”

You have been planning this day since you were six. Everything has been confirmed, reconfirmed and paid for. You have done everything you can to ensure that your wedding day is going to be just perfect, but when you wake up on your wedding day it is raining. Surely this is the end of the world?

Well wait just a second. Rain on your wedding day is not always as bad as it first seems. What is this? Who is this kooky writer and what is she talking about? I hear you ask??

Rainy wedding days do not have to be your worst nightmare come true. Listed below are some of the reasons why, and just a few handy hints on how to turn your worst nightmare into the most romantic day of your life.

Romance

Your first big plus is Romance !! That’s right, romance. Rain invokes feelings of intimacy and enchantment. Some of the most romantic days are those when you are greeted in the morning when you wake by the soft fall of rain on the window. It is cozy and romantic and conjures thoughts of snuggling up close with someone you love.

Rain can be romantic and inspiring. Take the opportunity to view the rain as being like the prelude to a new beginning. Your marriage is a new beginning, therefore it is natures way of helping you start your marriage with a clean new world.

Besides what bride wouldn’t want a romantic wedding?

Photographs

Believe it or not but your
photographer will be able to produce beautiful photographs that are in fact enhanced by the weather. Rainy weather can produce soft misty lighting, shiny surfaces and provides opportunity to use some romantic and captivating props.

Soft misty lighting can produce an ethereal glow, rain drops on car windows and beading water on cars, gates, fences and the like can be used to produce photographs that are completely stunning. In fact your photographer will love the opportunity to show off their creativity and flair when they have a misty rainy day to photograph.

Brightly coloured umbrellas, bridesmaids tip-toeing through puddles, your new husband cuddled into a picnic blanket with you are just some of the many rainy day shots that you can adapt to your already carefully laid photographic plans. Remember to ask your photographer about black and white photography as this will further enhance your artistic shots.

Flowers and Make Up

These are little things but to the conscientious bride, they are important. On a cloudy, rainy day, your
flowers will actually last longer. On hot sunny days your flowers will start to wilt in a matter of hours. However if you have an overcast day your flowers will remain fresher for longer.

The same goes for your
makeup. It is much easier to maintain your ‘face’ on a rainy day as your make up is less likely to come off due to sweat, and you will not be as worried about a shiny face in your photos as there wont be as much shine.

There really are many positive aspects of rainy day nuptials. The trick is to remain calm and positive. And remember, if the Bride and Groom are relaxed and happy, then the guests will be relaxed and happy too. Providing you with the perfect ingredients for a splendid wedding, come rain, hail or shine.
