DO's and DON'TS For the Groom

Do

  • Do smile during your Jack and Jill party, rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, and especially at the reception. If your guests see that your having a good time then so will they!

  • Do try to maintain open communication with your fiancée, both sets of parents and all members of the wedding party. A simple argument that can be avoided with open communication can change the entire outcome of your day.

  • Do take other's ideas into consideration....especially the parents.

  • Do maintain a well-balanced diet and regular exercise program so you can look great for her at the wedding and on your honeymoon.

  • Do register for gifts at a few different stores so your guests can have different options when purchasing your presents.

  • Do get everything in writing with all of your service providers (Limos, DJ, Caterer, etc.)

  • Do thank all of your guests for attending your wedding.

  • Do thank and toast both set of parents for all of their help. This can be done at the rehearsal dinner or at the reception.

  • Do give a special gift to your bride either before or after the wedding.

  • Do expect things to go wrong but don't worry, you will probably be the only one who notices it.

  • Do introduce guests and family members to each other.

  • Do pickup and return your tux on time.

  • Do save the top tier of your wedding cake to eat on your first anniversary.


Don't

  • Don't get drunk before or at the wedding reception.

  • Don't make any major decisions without the consent of your bride!

  • Don't try to make everyone happy, it's her your day, make yourselves happy before others.

  • Don't wait to the last minute to plan, the earlier it's done the more relaxed the both of you will be.

  • Don't overspend, stay within your budget.

  • Don't have your bachelor party the night before your wedding. You don't want to have a hangover on your wedding day.

  • Don't arrive late to the ceremony!

  • Don't get upset if your bride complains about minor details, that's all they are, no one will notice them.

  • Don't hang out at the bar all night, spend a lot time on the dance floor with your bride and guests.

  • Don't drink and drive or allow your guests to drink and drive. Arrange transportation for those who will be drinking excessively. (i.e., bus or designated drivers.)

  • Don't book your flight for your honeymoon the next morning. Take an extra day to relax before you go running off on your honeymoon.

  • Don't forget to have the Best Man take care of the gratuities for the service providers.

  • Don't expect sex after the wedding reception. The bride is usually pretty tired, save it for the honeymoon!

  • Don't try to do everything...Delegate responsibilities!
